The article deals with urban renewal as a community resilience strategy in the rural periphery and the characteristic structures of public neighborhoods built in the 1950s and 1960s. In these structures, development is directed towards green and internal areas, surrounded by wide roads, stemming from the rejection of urbanity that prevailed in those years. The article proposes a new methodology for urban renewal in these cities through new construction and the introduction of a new population, without harming the existing population and its neighborhood spaces, especially without undermining the community resilience that has developed over the years and is typical for peripheral communities. As its methodology, the article proposes examining the existing urban environment through quantitative tools for assessing the quality of the built environment. These tools have been developed in the last twenty years without application in a structured pre-occupancy built environment evaluation method. The article therefore proposes a methodology with four quantitative tools, emphasizing high connectivity and walkability potential, enhancing the sense of security, diversity of urban spaces, and providing a view to the open landscape. Using these tools, the article argues, it is possible to examine the existing environment, and if the desired qualities are found in it, urban renewal can be initiated, based on a new spatial network for the use of new residents. At the same time, it is imperative to reinforce the resilience and ensure the preservation of the current community.
