Abstract
המפגש בין יהדות תימן לבין קהילות ישראל האחרות במאות השנים האחרונות עד לעליות הגדולות משנת תרמ"ב (1882) ואילך התנהל בשלושה מסלולים: (א) ביקורים של נוסעים שונים בתימן ובארץ ישראל; (ב) מכירת כתבי יד של יהודי תימן על ידי סוחרים לספריות הציבוריות והפרטיות באירופה, בארה"ב, ובארץ ישראל. בעקבות כך החל להתפתח ענף חדש במדעי היהדות: חקר יהדות תימן; (ג) המפגש של עולי תימן עם אנשי היישוב הישן בירושלים וביפו ועם אנשי היישוב החדש במושבות הברון.
