מוח והתנהגות: שימוש בפוטנציאלים מעוררים לבדיקת ביצוע משימת קטגוריזציה במתבגרים / Brain and Behavior Interaction in Adolescent Performance of a Categorization Task

[Until recently cognitive intervention was not a major focus of occupational therapy intervention among children and adolescents. Intervention that focuses on cognitive aspects of functioning requires the development of a consistent practice framework, including evaluation. The aim of this study was to elicit Event Related Potentials (ERP), sensitive to various stages of the categorization process, through adaptation of a categorization task from the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST). Six Evoked Related Potential (ERP) components, which represent stages in the categorization activity, were defined. Ten adolescents who performed within the normal range in the WCST and one adolescent with a learning disability who showed decreased ability in the categorization task, were assessed. The results of this study reflect the categorization process dynamics in ERP components, thus validating behavioral results through a physiological test. התערבות קוגניטיבית בטיפול תופסת בשנים האחרונות תאוצה בריפוי בעיסוק. השימוש באספקטים קוגניטיביים דורש מן המטפלים פיתוח מסגרת התייחסות הכוללת אבחון והערכה. מטרת מחקר זה להדגים את רגישותם של פוטנציאלים מעוררים לשלבים השונים בתהליך הקטגוריזציה התקין (במבחן ממוחשב המבוסס על ה- Wisconsin Card Sorting Test). שישה רכיבי פוטנציאלים שונים הודגמו בתהליך הקטגוריזציה שבוצע על ידי עשרה מתבגרים בעלי יכולת קטגוריזציה תקינה (שנבדקה בדיקה התנהגותית על ידי המבחן המקורי) ועל ידי ילד לקוי למידה עם קושי בתפקודי קטגוריזציה. תוצאות המחקר הראו דינאמיקה אחידה מעניינת של רכיבי פוטנציאלים מעוררים בביצועי קבוצת המתבגרים התקינה, ותמונה שונה בביצועי הילד לקוי הלמידה. נראה כי פוטנציאלים מעוררים משמשים ככלי חשוב לתיקוף המבחן ההתנהגותי. בעתיד מומלץ לבצע מחקרים נוספים כדי לבסס את מאפייני הקטגוריזציה באוכלוסייה לקוית יכולת זו.]
