Abstract
The article examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the status of children's and youth's rights in Israel, in light of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). It does so by considering the CRC's general principles: right to non-discrimination, the principle of the best interests of the child, the right to life, survival and development, and the right to be heard and participate in decision-making. Focusing on the CRC's general principles, the article examines the unique challenges that arose as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, globally and in Israel, and reviews the measures taken to tackle these challenges, and their impact. The article concludes with recommendations on ensuring children's rights in Israel during COVID-19 and, more generally, in situations of emergency and crisis.
