Abstract
The current public social services staffing crisis involves recruiting challenges and high turn overrates, and there are over 1,000 vacant positions. Why is there such a high turnover among social workers in public social services and why is it so difficult to find others willing to replace them? These were the questions that guided a research project we launched over a year ago. This paper aims to draw connections between key insights of our research project, which focused on the staffing crisis during routine periods, and the urgent challenges we currently confront in times of war
